Description: Line dance routine with 2 sections.
Music: "Whirl-Y-Reel I (Beard & Sandals
Mix)" by Afro-Celt Sound System on the
"Jungle2Jungle" Soundtrack. Use soundtrack version
only: 3:30 mins. (136 bpm)
Teaching song: "Better Way" by Little Texas (108
bpm)
Dedication: To Mary Dale of Invercargill, New Zealand in
whose home this was created.
Choreographer's Notes: This wonderful song has distinct
thematic parts, so this dance is a routine
rather than a normal repeating pattern. The sequence of the
choreography is dictated by the musical themes as they reappear.
Example: Section A is triggered by the Irish flute theme. To keep
the dance
as simple as possible, there are only 2 sections to learn and
everything repeats in one way or another.
Count In: Introduction begins very softly. When the beat starts,
count 8 measures of 8
(64 counts) and start the dance when the flutes come in, at 0:39.
PART I. FULL SECTION
"A"
A - 1. FORWARD, ROCK BACK, SHUFFLE BACK, BACK, ROCK FORWARD,
FULL SPIN FORWARD, STEP FORWARD; REPEAT LEADING WITH LEFT
1 - 2 Step R forward. Rock back onto L.
3 & 4 Shuffle back on R-L-R.
5 - 6 Step L back. Rock forward onto R.
7 - 8 Step L forward spinning a full turn right on ball of L.
Step R forward.
9 - 16 Repeat counts 1 - 8 in this section leading with LEFT
foot. (You will spin left.)
A - 2. HEEL GRIND, COASTER STEP, 1/2 PIVOT, QUICK VINE
LEFT: x 2
1 - 2 With R heel forward: Grind R heel with toe moving
in, then out.
3 & 4 Coaster Step R-L-R (back-together-forward).
5 - 6 Step L forward. Pivot Turn 1/2 right shifting weight
forward onto R.
7 & 8 Step L to left side. Cross-Step R behind L. Step L to
left side
9 - 16 Repeat counts 1 - 8 in this section.
A - 3. CROSS, ROCK, SIDE-TOGETHER-SIDE, CROSS, ROCK,
TRIPLE TURN 1/2: x 2
1 - 2 Cross-Step R over L. Rock back onto L
3 & 4 Step R to right side. Slide Step L beside R. Step R to
right side.
5 - 6 Cross-Step L over R. Rock back onto R.
7 & 8 Triple Step L-R-L in place turning 1/2 left.
9 - 16 Repeat counts 1 - 8 in this section. Section A starts and
ends facing the same wall.
PART 2. SECTION B - 3 Start facing 12:00.
HEEL, STEP, POINT, HEEL, STEP, POINT, TURN; REPEAT 3 MORE TIMES
BUT
ELIMINATE THE TURN AT THE END. (NOTE: THIS SECTION CHANGES
WALLS.)
1 & 2 Touch R heel forward. Step R beside L. Touch L
toe to left side.
3 & 4 Touch L heel forward. Step L beside R. Touch R toe to
right side.
& Turn 1/4 right leaving R leg extended ( so the side toe
touch can easily become a forward heel touch).
5 - 8 & Repeat for a 2nd wall counts 1 - 4 &
9 - 12 & Repeat for a 3rd wall counts 1 - 4 &
13 - 16 Repeat for a 4th wall counts 1 - 4. NO TURN. This section
changes walls. End facing 9:00.
Note: This is the only section that changes walls: it turns us
one wall left.
PART 3. FULL SECTION A
1 - 48 Repeat the 3 parts of A . Start and end facing
9:00 wall.
PART 4. FULL SECTION "B"
B - 1. SWEEP, STEP FWD, SWEEP, STEP FWD, TOUCH SIDE-FRONT-SIDE,
STEP BACK;
SWEEP, STEP BACK, SWEEP, STEP BACK, TOUCH SIDE-BACK-SIDE, STEP
FWD
1 - 2 Sweep R toe from right side to forward. Step R forward.
3 - 4 Sweep L toe from left side to forward. Step L forward.
5 - 6 Touch R toe to right side. Touch R toe forward. Option for
5-6-7: continue sweeps.
7 - 8 Touch R toe to right side. Step R back.
9 - 10 Sweep L toe from left side to back. Step L back.
11 - 12 Sweep R toe from right side to back. Step R back.
13 - 14 Touch L toe to left side. Touch L toe back. Option for
13-14-15: continue sweeps.
15 - 16 Touch L toe to left side. Step L forward. Start and end
facing 9:00 wall.
B - 2. SYNCOPATED VINE RIGHT, SHIMMY WITH 4 HEEL BOUNCES
TURNING 1/2 R: x 2
1-2 Step R to right side. Cross Step L behind R
& 3 - 4 Step R to right side. Cross Step L over R. Hold.
5-6-7-8 Shimmy 4 cts. bouncing heels 4 times turning 1/8 right
each time = total of 1/2 turn.
9 - 16 Repeat counts 1-8 in this section. Start and end facing
9:00 wall.
B - 3. HEEL, STEP, POINT, HEEL, STEP, POINT, TURN; REPEAT
3 MORE TIMES BUT
ELIMINATE THE TURN AT THE END. Start facing 9:00
1 & 2 Touch R heel forward. Step R beside L. Touch L toe to
left side.
3 & 4 Touch L heel forward. Step L beside R. Touch R toe to
right side.
& Turn 1/4 right leaving R leg extended ( so the side toe
touch can easily become a forward heel touch).
5 - 8 & Repeat for a 2nd wall counts 1 - 4 &
9 - 12 & Repeat for a 3rd wall counts 1 - 4 &

PART 9. SECTION A - 1 WITH SPECIAL ENDING. Start
and end facing 12:00.
1 - 14 Normal as above.
15&16 Replace the last spin with: Shuffle forward on R-L-R.
On last step, slowly extend arms
diagonally outward with right arm forward and left arm back. End
of dance.
